How to set a ringtone for an iPhone contact

First, find the contact you want to set ringtone by opening the contact application. You can also open the phone app and tap on the Contacts tab at the bottom of the screen. After finding the contact you are looking for, tap on their name. Then, tap Edit in the top right corner of the screen.

Scroll down and tap Ringtones. Select the ringtone you want to play when it tries to call you by tapping on the name of the specific contact tone. A blue checkmark will appear on the left side of the tone that tells you that it has been selected. When you are happy with the selected ringtone for your contact, tap in the top right corner of the screen.

After selecting the tone, you will see it next to the ringtone on the contact’s page. When you’re done, tap the top right corner of the screen.

There is a difference between iPhone ringtones and text tones. A ringtone is the sound you hear when someone calls you. When you send an iMessage or text message to someone a text tone is the sound you hear.
